Gastronomy and Culinary Arts ProgramHeld on November 2, 2025, at Izmir Historical Gas Factory, the 8th edition of GastroFest brought together gastronomy enthusiasts and industry professionals under the theme “Food and Art.” The Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts at Izmir University of Economics (IUE) attracted great attention at the event with its booth and workshop organized in cooperation with the Izmir Chamber of Commerce (IZTO).
The Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts at İzmir University of Economics (IUE) hosted a comprehensive three-session symposium exploring various dimensions of gastronomy. Entitled “II. Current Trends in Gastronomy Symposium” the event brought together distinguished guests who examined the broad spectrum of gastronomy — from culture to technology — through an academic lens.
The Chef Instructors of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, Aypar Satı and Belgin Bulgan, represented Turkey at the ‘Izmir & Lesvos Gastronomy and Culture Festival’, organized in cooperation with the Lesvos Municipality and the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality.
During the presentation, it was emphasized that some invasive fish species, originally from the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean, have reached our waters due to the opening of the Suez Canal and the effects of climate change, posing a threat to the local ecosystem and disrupting biological balance.
